【大切なお知らせと、これからのこと①】

いつも「島のえき」を応援してくださり、ありがとうございます。今日は、みなさんに大切なお知らせがあります。

「島のえき」が入っている建物は、石巻市が所有する施設です。この建物について、市は2030年度（令和12年度）に解体する方針を示しています。

背景には、合併後のまちづくりを支援する制度「合併特例債」の執行期限があります。この特例債は、公共施設の整備や更新に活用される財源で、その執行期限が2030年度末に定められているため、市では対象となる施設の整理が進められています。この流れの中で、「島のえき」の建物も解体対象となり、現在の場所での営業は2029年度末までとなる見込みです。

「島のえき」は、田代島の猫たちと人をつなぎ、この島を訪れる人々の“よりどころ”のような存在として歩んできました。

あと5年――

それは、まだ時間があるようにも思えるけれど、きっとあっという間です。この節目を前に、「このままでは終わってしまう」という実感とともに、“その先”の未来に向けた準備を、少しずつ始めようとしています。

まだ、具体的な形や方向性をすべてお伝えできる段階ではありません。けれど、そのプロセスそのものを、みなさんと共有していきたいと考えています。私たちが悩み、考え、動いていく姿を一緒に見守ってもらったり、ときにはアイデアや応援をもらえたら、どれだけ心強いことかと思います。

「変わってしまう」ことを、ただ寂しむだけでなく、「変わっていくこと」を楽しんでもらえるように。
そして、「次に続く何か」を一緒に育てていけるように。

そんな願いから、まだ少し先の話ではありますが、このタイミングでお知らせさせていただきました。

これからも少しずつ、進捗や想いをお伝えしてまいります。
引き続き、田代島と「島のえき」のことを、どうぞあたたかく見守っていただけたらうれしいです。

[A Heartfelt Update and a Look Toward the Future]

Thank you always for your warm support of Shima no Eki.
Today, we have an important update to share with you.

The building that houses Shima no Eki is a public facility owned by the city of Ishinomaki.
The city has recently announced plans to demolish the building in fiscal year 2030 (Reiwa 12).

This decision is part of a broader effort by the city to reorganize public facilities using a special government funding program called the Merger Special Grant Bonds (Gappei Tokureisai), which supports community development after municipal mergers.
This program has an execution deadline of fiscal year 2030, and the city is taking steps to complete necessary actions within that timeframe.

As a result, Shima no Eki will be able to continue operating at its current location until the end of fiscal year 2029, but will have to close at that point.

For many of you, and for us as well, Shima no Eki has been more than just a shop—
it has been a place that connects people and cats, and a comforting part of the Tashirojima experience.

Now, with five years remaining, we feel this moment is a meaningful turning point.
Though it may seem like there’s still time, we know how quickly those years can pass.

That’s why we’ve begun to quietly prepare for what comes next—
not as an ending, but as a step toward the future.

We don’t yet have clear answers or a fully formed plan.
But rather than wait until everything is decided,
we’d like to invite you into the process—to walk with us, wonder with us, and imagine the future together.

We believe that change doesn’t have to be something to fear or mourn—
it can also be something we explore and enjoy together.

So although this may feel like a small beginning,
we wanted to be open with you from this very moment.

We’ll continue to share our thoughts and progress little by little,
and we truly hope you’ll keep watching over Shima no Eki and Tashirojima with the same kindness and warmth you’ve always shown.
